Zero Usage Flag
A Zero read will appear when no water has passed through the meter for 15 days or more. This can be caused by either a vacant home, a tenant on vacation, or if the meter is jammed (on an occupied home). If the meter is jammed or clogged, the meter would need to be removed from the home, flushed out with water and reinstalled to start showing consumption again.
BEFORE CLEANING OUT THE METER:
- Verify the Meter ID on the face of the meter matches the information in WaterScope
- If it is different, please notify Metron
- Verify there is someone living in the home, using water
- You can test the reads by looking at the read of the meter, then have someone in the home flush a toilet, then look at the read again. If it changed, there is no clog.
Cleaning these out is done by removing the meter from the line, running water backwards through the meter and/or tapping it gently on the ground to dislodge whatever is stuck. You will know the meter is fixed when you can blow air through the opening of the meter and see the impeller blade spinning and the LCD numbers are changing.
